Two Die in Georgia Ave Crash

Two people were killed late Sunday night in a high-speed car crash in south Silver Spring, NBC 4 News and the Washington Post report.

Around 11:45 p.m., a Chevy Impala speeding north on Georgia Avenue smashed into a Honda Accord and a Ford Crown Vic near Sligo Avenue, and then smacked into the the base of the railroad overpass, according to the Post and the MoCo police.

Two people in the Honda--Shawn Ryan Terrill, the 24-year-old driver, and Ahmed Glenn, a 23-year-old passenger in the back seat--died at the scene. Both men were from Woodbridge, Va., says the MoCo police.

Two more passengers in the Honda, both female, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, NBC 4 News writes. The driver of the Crown Vic was treated at the scene, says the police.

One person in the Impala also went to the hospital with serious injuries, NBC 4 News writes. The police believe that two other people were riding in the Impala and left the scene.

"We believe they have serious injuries," Eric Burnett, a police spokesperson, told the Post. "They're going to need medical attention."

Georgia Avenue was closed for a few hours while medics and cops worked the scene. The road reopened just before 7:00 a.m., the Post reports.

Thanks for pointing out that detail.

There are still lots of details that must be ironed out. Were DC cops chasing the Impala? If so, why? Could it have been another police force (Capitol Police, feds, whatever) chasing the Impala?

According to the article, DC police are not supposed to give chase unless a suspect has committed a serious crime. DC police are looking into whether any of their guys chased the Impala into MoCo.

Sounds like this tragic story is just beginning.

DC police were chasing the impala for suposedly not stoping at a stop sign then they chase it to the DC, MD boarder and after that is the the Impala hit the Crown Vic and then then Shawn's Honda. R.I.P. Shawn Terrill We love you and we are going to miss you!!! make sure you watch over your family from up there and we will try to take care of them down here!

My friend Shawn's death was senseless. A previous comment saying this story is just beginning is correct. Someone or some will be held accountable for his death. The DC police and the driver of that Impala. A lawsuit will be in the works. We can't bring Shawn back and he is surely missed but his death will not be in vain. Such a brilliant young life taken just because the driver of the Impala was stopped by the police for speeding and then the stupid police want to give chase. Shouldn't they be out there arresting the people really committing crimes instead of trying to make their ticket quota? RIP Shawn. We love you and we miss you.
